Picture Day
McKay had pictures last week but I thought I would give it a try, because really, how many people use the smaller sizes? I know I just threw 11 years worth because they were taking up space in my downstairs storage. (Pictures of that to come soon!)
So much easier and a little more personal, don't you think?

The days are few...
We spent the morning at the pool this past week. It was 90 degrees and we had a wonderful time with Max and his Momma. Hinckley's favorite thing to do was to run in the water, lay down, get his hair wet, then race back to the chairs and wipe his face (which never got wet) with the towel.
Finally found one
Many of you know that I complain once in a while about Hinckley's aversion to television. Before some of you go all balistic on me about media it's effects on kids, I KNOW. My older three children have media limits so I am very aware about how much they are watching, playing, etc. But as a Mom of a busy 2 year old, sometimes, SOMETIMES, it is nice to have a little break. Hinckley has shown no interest in tv. Zero. Zilch. The shows I thought he might enjoy he could care less about. I recently rented the Muppets for McKay and while we had it he seemed to enjoy it, at least the music anyway. The other day we were driving around and he kept asking for the Muppets (out of the blue). And he kept asking. And asking. So finally, being the first rate Mom that I am, we headed to Costco. Who didn't have it. Then to Target. Who again, didn't have it. (In the background of your mind start repeating Muppets like a toddler who is increasingly getting frustrated). Off to Mr. Movies I went and as luck would have it, they had it! Score.

First Day of School
The kids started school Wednesday and we are happily getting back into a routine. Well, at least this Momma is happy!
Ready to go.
The cool kids.
McKay and her new teacher.
No worries Mom, I've got this!
Summers out for school!
We decided to have one last big hurrah! before the school year began so we took off to Omaha to spend a beautiful day at the zoo. The last time we went was over Spring Break and we missed the aquarium, the train, the carousel and a few other exhibits. Hinckley of course is in love with the train and also has a new fondness for carousel's.
Trying to see if the penguin is bigger than I am.
Why yes, that IS a picture of me.
Aping around...
They've got the whole world in their hands...

Haircut
Normally his pictures show him happy, but there is one thing Hinckley doesn't like...
Luckily, his rockin hairstylist Lindsay knows how to get him to sit for a few minutes. Yep, that is sucker 1, and sucker 2, in his mouth. At 10 am. Oh well. Finally done and he is now quite happy and excited to go pick out sucker 3.

Give me a W...
McKay was able to do a cheer camp a couple of weeks ago and had a great time. She learned a dance and a cheer. This year instead of dance, and much to my great delight, she has decided to go back to gymnastics. Yeah! I am so NOT a dance mom.
A great surprise...
Taylor attended Scout camp the week before last and so I had a little fun while he was gone. He has been saying he wanted to change his room from a sports theme to just baseball. Thank goodness Pinterest gave me the perfect idea to get started.
And now I present...
YANKEES KINGDOM
I forgot the have the camera out when he came home, but needless to say, he was super excited. And he LOVES it.

The Lady in Red
It shouldn't be much of a surprise that Hinckley spends most of his time putting Marie miles on the vacuum. He and his lady in red are constant companions. If she gets put in the closet, she is brought right back out. Every. Single. Time.

We had to try it!
With the recent temperatures we have had, the boys decided it would be fun to try to fry an egg on the sidewalk. Taylor even thought it would be important to put a spray of oil on first. (Have I taught him well, or what?) Well, it didn't exactly FRY, but it did get hard and crusty within about 12 minutes. Not too bad on that 100 degree day!

Random Happenings...
I know that many women Yankees fans like them because they have a crush on either a) Derek Jeter or b) Alex Rodriguez. But they haven't seen anything yet.
This one is seriously the cutest person in a Yankees hat...ever.
Taylor had a tournament this past weekend on Saturday our two games got rained out so we all went to dinner. Here is Taylor showing the boys how to do a toothpick star...
We decided to hit the pool one day. It was a little overcast but they still had a great time and no lines!
Hinckley is still in love with his mower. He loves the sounds it makes and it blows bubbles. Can't beat that!
Grant's great season
Grant has had a great year in baseball. When Kyle came home with his roster after the draft, I made some comment about him having his work cut out for him. I knew of a quite a few of the boys, and I thought it might be a tough year. Well, I was proven wrong. Yep, I said it. Wrong. I KNOW baseball, but when kids have heart and you have a coach who is willing to mold players, what you know doesn't really matter, does it?
Anyway, Grant's team went 12-2 and won the regular season. The made it to the championship and lost to the team that they went 1-1 with in the regular season. It was disappointing for the boys, but they played flat. Couldn't hit the ball, and the other team did. Nevertheless, they had a great year and it was fun to watch them. They were smart and kept their heads in the game which you don't see often at this age.
Grant really improved this year. He worked hard and it payed off. He made the All-Stars this year. He was pretty excited!
Way to go Grant!

A little late.
We FINALLY had a afternoon free to celebrate Hinckley and McKay's birthdays. Since I was in Colorado for Hinckley's birthday and we went on a quick trip for McKay's, we finally were able to have a few friends over for food, cake, and ice cream.
Friends helping get the candles off so they can lick the frosting.
Nothing fancy this year. We had baseball on Saturday and didn't get home until almost 6 so I spent the night baking away.
Hinckley and his buddy Max.
Yum...cake and ice cream!
Fun with presents.
They were spoiled by dear friends and had a great time. I just wish there wasn't so much left over cake!
