Beggar's Night...what a joke!

I prefer trick or treat.  I also prefer going out ON Halloween.  But for some reason, Iowa has Beggar's Night.  It is usually held the day before Halloween and kids get dressed in their costumes and instead of saying "trick or treat" they tell a joke.  Wouldn't it make more sense to "beg"?  Still not getting the beggars night/joke idea, but whatever.  Anyway, we had some pretty cute kiddos if I do say so myself.  The kids also had our ward "Trunk of Treat" on Friday night, so that, combined with Beggar's Night and the boys invitation to another Halloween activity at a friends church equals WAY TOO MUCH CANDY.  I think they actually surpassed the years we were in law school, when they got to go the dorms trick or treating...boy do students love little trick or treaters!!!

At the church, Mr. Army (Taylor), Waukee Gangsta (Grant...he LOVES his fedora!) and Bumblelina (with pink hair!)

The kids ready to go out on "Beggar's Night"...isn't that a cute little chunky monkey?

The trio of candies...ugh, doesn't it make you sick just looking at all of that junk?

This week?

First and foremost I will be a canning queen....only 7 quarts of applesauce done, more applesauce to go, plus apple pie filling and apple butter.  Also, trying to get in the Living History Farms race, PTO meeting, football and basketball practice, Scout Pack Meeting, early out, and that is just the afternoon and evening schedule through Wednesday!  Phew...I am worn out just thinking about this week.  On top of that, I woke up feeling slightly under the weather...I hate having the chills!!

GO VOTE!!!!!

  1. Who knew that tongue tatoos even existed??? Very strange...but I can totally see my boys loving that. And that is one adorable chunky monkey for sure. Glad you had a great Halloween.
