He sure knows how to make an entrance!

Welcome!!

(Pictures to come next week.)

We went into the hospital on May 18th at 11:00 p.m.  I was originally scheduled to start Cytotec to help ripen my cervix because I had been "high and closed" for the last four weeks.  When I got to the hospital I was dilated between 3 and 4 (to my surprise as well as the nurses!).  The Dr. then opted to start Pitocin which originally would have been started Wednesday morning.

I could feel mild contractions, nothing major, and not a lot of dilation change occurred.  Suddenly at around 5:00 a.m. Old Faithful Geyser erupted.  Even the nurse said it was probably the biggest bag of waters to ever break.  Kyle said that I probably just lost 10 pounds!

That is when things changed quickly.  The nursed check to see how much I had dilated and discovered that I had a Prolapsed Cord.  A prolapsed cord is when the cord comes ahead of the baby and immanently endangers the fetus.  My room suddenly became very busy and I was rushed into an emergency C-Section (which by the way I had feared my whole pregnancy) and the last thing I remember was squeezing the nurses hand.  I woke up about 7:30 to discover that the delivery went well and quick and that Hinckley had scored a 9 and 9 on both Apgar's.

Around 10 a.m. they came in to tell me that Hinckley was having trouble with his oxygen and they took him to NICU I got to hold him for about 3 minutes for the first time before they took him to the NICU.  It was so difficult for me to miss those first hours with my son.  Later in the day they finally (after normal recovery time) allowed me to go see him and spend time with him.  The first thing that came to my mind was that we knew a few Physician's from our church that practice at this hospital and we would have someone there to help Kyle give Hinckley a blessing.  Hinckley got a blessing that day and has since come off the oxygen and we are hoping to go home Monday morning.

I got released from the hospital today but will be staying here to be with him.

I can say without a doubt that the Lord's hand was involved in the birth and protection of not only Hinckley but myself as well.  I had received a blessing on Sunday night in preparation of Hinckley's birth and I believe that had this not occurred the situation would have been quite different.  How grateful I am for the restoration of the Priesthood and the intervention that can occur when it is used righteously.  I am ever grateful for a husband that honors his commitment to our loving Heavenly Father.  Words cannot express the gratitude I have for a loving Father in Heaven who has blessed my life so greatly.  I am humbled that His love has been manifest in my life in so many ways despite feeling as if, at times, I do not deserve it.

Hinckley is already such a blessing.  He is precious beyond description. We are so grateful for his addition in our family.

Thank you for all of your words of support and caring.  I cannot express enough gratitude to the many people who have helped us in the last week.
