She makes you want to be a better person.

For a while now I have been learning and watching as this amazing young lady has recovered from burns received from a plane crash that she and her husband were in. I don't know her personally, but Erica, whose blog by the way is quite fabulous, is her childhood friend and one day asked for prayers on Stephanie's behalf. Since that day I have read Stephanie's blog in it's entirety. I have waited and watched with family, friends and other unknowns to see if she would recover. Her story was in many newspapers and even on the Today show. Maybe some of you have heard of her, maybe some of you have not. But let me just say that this is story that you must hear.

The last few days have been a challenge at my house. The kids don't pick up after themselves. In fact, they seem to enjoy making a mess right after I have cleaned. They fight over the most ridiculous things. The don't listen. All of these things combined make for a very frustrated mom. A mom who doesn't want to cook a nice dinner (which is sad because she really loves to cook), a mom who doesn't want to do fun things with them, and a mom who more than a few times has raised her voice.

And then I read Stephanie's blog. I am reminded that the life I have is simple, easy and carefree. I am reminded that I shouldn't get frustrated at the little things. I am reminded that life could be much more difficult.

But despite the tragedy that has occurred in her life, and the challenges that she will face as she continues to heal from both emotional and physical scars, she remains hopeful. She remains optimistic. She makes me want to be a better person.

Because I don't know her personally, I hope that she wouldn't be upset that I posted about her. However, I hope that each person who takes the time to read my blog will take time to read hers. They will see, as my friend Erica stated, life through rose colored glasses as her beloved friend NieNie has.

I hope that in days of frustration I can continue to find inspiration from this beautiful young lady. I hope that I will keep her in my prayers. And most of all, I hope that I will be a better person from the wonderful lesson about life and living that she gives each time she posts about her day. I hope each of you can be uplifted too. That is why I share this with you. And most of all, I hope that each day the sky is rose colored in your world, too.

  2. I've read her blog for the past several months. I would only hope I too would have her attitude in a similar situation. Truly inspiring!

  3. This was a beautiful post.

Steph has touched so many people...especially mothers for the same reason you stated.

I can not tell you how many times during those hard days (which are more frequent than not) that my thoughts go to Steph and her example.

On my mirror in my bathroom I have a few simple words = "Look through rose colored glasses today". One of the many things I have learned from Steph and her amazing zest for life.

    We are all so blessed...

  4. I don't think that there is ANYONE out in the "blogging world" that hasn't come across this truly inspring person. I too have read all of her entries, and have found a great love and admiration for this girl I have never met or known personally. It is true, whenever I am feeling overwhelmed or just plain feeling sorry for myself, I think of Stephanie and her courage.
