It all comes down to luck...and the 3rd lane

This week was exciting for Taylor. It was Pinewood Derby time. I have decided that with the derby it comes down to an insane amount of luck. Also, it did seem that cars in the third lane won a majority of the time. I was so proud of Taylor because he exhibited such great sportsmanship as he cheered on all of the other racers. He did really well taking 1st or 2nd in all of his heats. His car was pretty cool too. I am sure Kyle would love to have a derby every month so he can have an excuse to go buy more power tools.

This cute picture is McKay and Caleb. Caleb's mom has an in home daycare and I take McKay there for a "mom break" once a week. She used to cry when I would take her, then Caleb's mom had a baby so she took time off. McKay was so excited to see her and Caleb that I am hoping she won't be sad when she starts back up this week.

McKay and I have both been battling colds this week. Luckily she hasn't had a fever, however, she has been quite fussy. Me? Well, let's just say that with getting sick I missed Thursday, Friday and Saturday exercises (I don't exercise on Sunday) and tomorrow morning is going to suck! All I need is a banner like this in each room of the house and it will keep me motivated. And of course, I have to win the lottery!

On a high note, the cooking class I teaches resumes on Tuesday. I am so excited to get back. I have some great menus picked out and am looking forward to my little "mom break". Plus, I haven't bought anything at Williams Sonoma in about a month so I KNOW there are some things that are calling my name...like perhaps this, and this, and this.....

Seriously, why didn't I think of this? It's about time the paddle attachment comes with scrapers on the side. Right now it is only for the 5qt., but I am sure the 6 qt. will arrive shortly.
Who doesn't love fun colored bowls? These little prep bowls by Le Creuset are wonderful...and they are silicone. Yea! I won't break my wrist picking them up.
It is about time. I have often said that I teach the classes to support my All-Clad addiction...here is another reason why. A fry pan WITH a lid. This is going to be a definite. 23 and counting.

A wide peeler. I have the narrow ones and will be grateful to have this on hand just for peeling butternut squash.
My new dining room set has FINALLY arrived and will be delivered Friday. I originally thought about painting the room a deep burgundy (Kyles eyes would be rolling if he were here) but I had been rethinking that lately. After seeing this green toile I think I have found a new color idea. I guess I better get on the ball...maybe I will chair rail and paint half of the room green....hmmm.

Who doesn't love soups? These new bowls are going to be great because they are large! The old ones were just too small for me. Besides, if I am going to have a bowl of French Onion soup I want to have a nice pile of yummy Gruyere on top. This definitely fits the bill.

The day of romance is quickly coming upon us. I normally don't decorate for holidays with the exception of Christmas but I think this is adorable. I love the colors and simplicity of this wreath. And of course, it would look great on my front door.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. I will post recipes next week when I start feeling better. Resolutions are on track!!! And Collie, I will take that bet!
